[Standard Metrics raised a $20 million Series B](https://standardmetrics.io/we-raised-a-20m-series-b-from-our-customers-to-accelerate-innovation-in-the-private-markets/) led by 8VC, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, Spark Capital, and January Capital. The company has now raised roughly $50 million, with most of that capital coming from its customers.

Venture firms understand the portfolio monitoring problem because they buy the software and use the data. They can compare Standard Metrics with the rest of the market, and the customers that invested had evaluated the product before funding the company.

Standard Metrics has grown approximately 20 times since its Series A. More than 150 investment firms managing over $400 billion use the platform, along with more than 10,000 portfolio companies. Thirty percent of the Forbes Midas List are customers.

Standard Metrics uses AI to parse documents, analyze performance, and generate reports from the same system of record. Its MCP server makes that data available inside other AI tools. These products move Standard Metrics into the work that follows data collection, including portfolio reviews, valuations, and LP reporting.

Portfolio monitoring starts with collecting and reporting company data. Once that data sits in one system, Standard Metrics can apply AI to valuations, portfolio reviews, LP reporting, audits, and investment decisions. More work then happens on the same data, which expands the amount of software Standard Metrics can sell to each firm.

Private markets reporting is a many-to-many problem. A company may report to several investors, and each investor tracks dozens or hundreds of companies. Standard Metrics lets a portfolio company submit information once and share it with multiple investors. As more firms join, founders have fewer investor portals to maintain.

[Chronograph's $140 million-plus investment](https://www.vcsoftware.vc/editorial/chronograph-140m-investment-private-markets-software) proves that a buyer will pay hundreds of millions for private markets portfolio infrastructure. Standard Metrics extends that bull case because its growth, AI strategy, and reporting network expand the market it can serve.

Standard Metrics plans to use the $20 million to improve its document processing, AI Analyst, MCP capabilities, and performance insights. Each product works from the system of record behind valuations, LP reporting, and audits. There is money in this market, and AI gives Standard Metrics a path to an outcome larger than portfolio monitoring software has produced so far.
